E. Halcard Burchett, 81, of Minford, died Thursday, January 16, 2014 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth.
Born July 9, 1932 in Carter County, Kentucky, a son of the late Robert Lee and Pearl Logan Burchett, he was a retired custodian and bus driver for Clay and Minford Local School Districts. He was a former member of the Grange and Conservation Clubs and a 4-H advisor for many years in the Tractor and Dairy Clubs.
He is survived by his wife, Janettia Graham Burchett, who he married in 1954; a son, Stephen (Teresa) Burchett of Minford; a daughter, Lori (Steve) Seibert of Minford; four grandchildren, Seth (Kristyn) McLaughlin, April (Aaron) Burchett, Jared (Nikki) McLaughlin, Steven Robert Burchett; seven great-grandchildren, Hannah McLaughlin, Daniel Burchett, Mackenna McLaughlin, Braden Scott, Morgan Burchett, Bryson McLaughlin, Heighden McLaughlin; a brother, Raymond Lee Burchett of Minford; two sisters, Marilyn Jean Salyers of Canton, Donna Faye Venus of Cleveland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to his caregivers, Dee and Katie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons; Randal Burchett, Matthew Burchett, Ralph Burchett; a daughter Bethel Burchett and a brother, Burley Burchett.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Mike Wyatt and Bud Mefford officiating.
Burial will be at Bennett Cemetery in Minford.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and one hour prior to the service on Sunday.
