Roberta Fay Holsinger Lavender, 61, of Sciotoville Route 2, died at home Monday, March 29, 1993, after a lengthy illness.

 

She was born on February 28, 1931 to Roy and Juanita Simpson Holsinger.  Roberta was the first of four children born to Roy and Juanita.

 

Roberta graduated from Glenwood High School in the Class of 1950.  On November 3, 1951, she married Danny Lee Lavender at the New Boston Nazarene Church.

 

She worked as a telephone operator for Ohio Bell in Columbus.  While rearing three daughters, she began working as a teacher's aide at Sunshine Elementary School.  When the Minford Local Schools consolidated, she worked as an Early Childhood Education aide in the Reading Lab.  She was promoted to Secretary at the Minford Elementary School.  Later, she worked as Secretary to the School Superintendent.  Her last job before retiring, was as Assistant Treasurer for the Minford Local Schools Board of Education.  Ill health forced her to retire on January 1, 1993 after 25 years of service to the Minford Local School District.

 

Surviving are her husband, Danny Lee Lavender and the following children:

Teresa (Rick) Gampp, Rama Lavender, Glenda (Craig) Gullion; grandchildren Kara and Erick Gampp, Caleb and Morgan Gullion.  She is also survived by her mother and sisters Barbara Waldeck and Deborah Caldwell.  She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Holsinger who died in 1964, and her brother Gary Olson Holsinger who was killed in action in Hue, Viet Nam in 1968.

 

She was a faithful member of Porter FreeWill Baptist Church for 32 years.
