Minford School Board Names Superintendent

Minford Board of Education employed a new superintendent of school and granted supplemental contracts to several teachers during a regular meeting.

William F. Boyer, who has been principal of Minford Middle School since 1970, was named school superintendent to success William F. Rogers, who is to retire.

Boyer is to assume his new duties August 1.

In other business, the board granted supplemental contracts for coaches in football, baseball, boys track, girls track, Girls Athletic Association, and to cheerleader advisor, yearbook advisor, and junior and senior class advisors.

Reduction of seven days were made in contracts of persons employed under the disadvantaged program because of lack of funds.

The board approved the hiring of Violet Ferguson as a teacher-aid and two bus drivers for the Title 1 summer program.  The board approved the school calendar for 1974 - 1975 and hired three bus drivers, a custodian, three secretaries and four part-time cooks.  All bids for new buses and trucks were rejected.

Mrs. Brenda Kallner was assigned duties as director of career development program and the board approved job descriptions for extra curricular activities for the newspaper advisor, cheerleader advisor, honor society, school play director, school yearbook advisor and activity club advisor.

The new superintendent is a native of Scioto County and was graduated from Wheelersburg High School in 1955.  He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at Eastern Kentucky University and did post graduate work at Xavier, Marshall University at Huntington, West Virginia and Ohio University at Athens.

Boyer was a teacher and coach at Wheelersburg elementary and junior high schools from 1959 to 1963, and was teacher and head football coach at Wheelersburg High School from 1963 to 1970.

Boyer, 37, is married to the former Carol Randall and they are the parents of two children, William David, 13, and Tracy Marie, 10.
