ELIZABETH ANN 'BETTY' FIGLESTAHLER
February 19, 1928 - March 5, 2017
MINFORD — Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Figlestahler, 89 of Minford, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
Born February 19, 1928 in Portsmouth, Ohio, a daughter of the late Karl A. and Eva Marie (Snyder) Seidel, she was a retired registered nurse. A graduate of Minford High School in the class of 1945, and a graduate from Mercy School of Nursing in 1948 \ Army Cadet Corp., and Ohio University in 1981 with a BSN degree. She was the school nurse for Minford Local Schools for 15 years.
She was a member of St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church in Wheelersburg, and was a member of the church choir and the ladies guild for many years. She was a member of the Scioto County Homemakers Club, active in the Girl Scouts and Boys Scouts, a 4-H advisor, and member of Mercy Hospital Alumni Association. She was an incredible wife and mother, and was so proud of her big family.
She is survived by three sons, Robert L (Cathy) Figlestahler of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, John T. (Emilie) Figlestahler of Minford, Mark S. (Barbie) Figlestahler of Wheelersburg; five daughters, Ann (David) Nelson of Oak Hill, Joan (Bryan) Shonkwiler of Circleville, Rita (Christopher) Wedzikowski of Cincinnati, Ellen Bell of Wheelersburg, Carol (Gregory) Lute; 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three brothers, John Seidel of Alabama, David (Phyllis) Seidel of Minford, James (Phyllis) Seidel of Buckeye, Arizona; three sisters, Rita (James) Brennan of Kansas, Ruth (Lt. Col. John) Sloan of Manassas, Virginia, Susan (Roy) Sigritz of Centerville, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Figlestahler, on July 4, 1989, whom she married on August 5, 1950; two granddaughters, Emma Elizabeth Lute and Rachel Marie Lute; three sisters, Patricia Marie Seidel in infancy, Martha Jane Morrison and Rosemary Newman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will he held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017 at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church in Wheelersburg with Father Joe Yokum officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter in Chains Cemetery. Friends may call at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford Wednesday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary service beginning at 8:00 p.m.
