Frances Louise (Kopp) Evans

EVANS (KOPP) Frances Louise (Kopp) Evans, an original resident of Lincoln Village, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011, 7:13 PM at Westminster Thurber Community, Columbus, Ohio.

Born October 17, 1923 in Portsmouth, OHIO, to the late Frank and Minnie Kopp.
A graduate of St. Marys High School, Graduate of Mt. St. Joseph College, BS., Graduate Ohio State University, M.S. Member St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Life member of the NEA, OEA and CEA, retired. Longtime Latin teacher at West High School.
 
She was also preceded in death by her husband Alva Evans, brothers John and Carl Kopp, sisters Anna Sommer Will, Sister Elizabeth, O.S.D., and Marcella, nephews John Sommer, George Kopp, Tom, and Teddy Kopp and Bill Kopp. Survived by nephews, Fred (Clotine), David (Mary Ann), Gerald (Elissa), Mark (Celina) Sommer, John (Elsie) Kopp, Jim (Mary Ann) Kopp, Charles and Raymond (Dolly); nieces, Mary Ann (Larry) Davis and Elizabeth (Larry) May; 36 great nieces and nephews; cousins, Frank and Carl Neimer; sisters in law, Regina Kopp and Ann Sommer.
 
Frances taught Latin, English and French and served as Librarian at West High School prior to her retirement in 1988.  She was the youngest of six children born and raised in Portsmouth, Ohio. 
 
As a Senior in high school, Frances worked Saturdays in the Kresge's 5 & 10 store.  After high school, she worked at W.T. Grant Department Store during summers and college vacations, selling ready to wear items. 
 
Frances taught at Minford High School for seven years after college graduation.  She was only 20 years old when she started her teaching career.

Interment St. Peters and Chains Cemetery, Wheelersburg, OH.
