Glenn Owen Lawrence

Glenn Owen Lawrence, 76, of Wheelersburg, died Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at home after a long illness.
Glenn was born June 2, 1930 in Portsmouth, a son of the late Earl William Lawrence and Bessie Agnes Noel Lawrence.
Glenn was a Korean War Veteran, a 1949 graduate of Minford High School, a 1956 graduate of Rio Grande College and a 1958 graduate of Marshall University where he received his master's degree. He was a guidance counselor who taught for 38 years at Wheelersburg and Minford schools and attended Wheelersburg Church of Christ. He was a member of Ohio Education Association, Scioto County Counselor's Association, Scioto County Retired Teachers Association, Wheelersburg Western-Sun 91 Masonic Lodge, the Knights Templar of Portsmouth, Scioto County Scottish Rite Club, 32nd Degree Mason, Valley of Cincinnati, a life member of Disables American Veterans, a member of James Dickey Post 23 American Legion, and the Funeral Rifle Squad.
Surviving are his wife, Loretta Mae Maynard Lawrence, whom he married on November 24, 1955, in Wheelersburg. One son, Larry Lawrence and wife, Susan of Wheelersburg, one daughter, Sharon Chasteen and husban, Carol of Tallahassee, Florida, and grandchildren: Ashley, Seth, Emily and Christopher Lawrence, Katie, Bethany, and Rachel Chasteen.
He also was preceded in death by one brother, Gilbert Noel Lawrence.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2006 at Swick-Bussa-Chamberlin Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Don Noel officiating and burial in Memorial Burial Park with military graveside rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion.
Friends may call Friday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. where Masonic services will be at noon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Ohio and the Alzheimer's Association.
