Hilda West
Hilda (Allen) West, 83, of Rising Sun, died Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati.
She was born August 29, 1921 in Minford, OH, the daughter of Alva Ethan Allen and Della M. (Rambo) Allen, both deceased.
She married Floyd West on November 7, 1942 in Portsmouth, OH and he preceded her in death in 1964.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne West and wife Pat of Lebanon, OH, Frank West of San Diego, CA.; one brother, Marvin Allen of Lakeview, OH; two grandchildren; one great grandson; and several other relatives; caregiver and best friends, Gien and Beulah Spears of Quercus Grove.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Shoemaker, Hazel Dever; four brothers, Wilber, Wilford, Cleo and Freddie Allen; and one daughter-in-law.
Mrs. West was a beautician for many years in Price Hill in Cincinnati owning Hilda's Beauty Salon. She was a member of the Quercus Grove United Methodist Church and was a past member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Vevay VFW Post 5396 Auxiliary; the Hope Rebekah Lodge #851 in Bennington; and the Center Square Homemaker's Club.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 12, from 5 p.m. until the time of services at 6 p.m. at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, Vevay.
Funeral services will begin at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. John Scudder and Rev. Janet Jacobs officiating. Vevay VFW Auxiliary Post 5396 will conduct a memorial service on Friday at 6 p.m.
Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon, OH.
Memorials may be given to the Switzerland County Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
