JANET L. BURGETT
September 4, 1936 - August 29, 2017

PORTSMOUTH —Janet Leigh Burgett, 80, of Portsmouth passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017.

Born September 4, 1936 in Webbville, KY, a daughter of the late Paul and Orbia (Bays) Shepherd, she was a school bus driver for Minford Local Schools, she had taught Sunday School at Sunshine Church of Christ, and Grant and Summit Church of Christ. Janet was a talented needle woman, an avid quilter, and her favorite thing outside of her family was her flower garden.

She is survived by her husband, Russell Burgett whom she married on September 6, 1953; five children, Richard (Linda) Burgett, Mick (Drema) Burgett, Dean Burgett, Tracy (Randy) Craig, Stan (Ramona) Burgett; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; a brother, Jack (Nancy) Shepherd, and two sisters, Donna (Charles) Downey and Paula (Harold) Williams.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Proctor Shepherd; a niece, Jane Leaver, and a grandson Jeremy Burgett.

A private burial will be conducted at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Grant and Summit Church of Christ in Portsmouth. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday, September 16, 2017. Arrangements are under the direction of Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford.
