KATHLEEN M. BENNINGTON
April 30, 1930 - May 15, 2018 

WHEELERSBURG — Kathleen M. Bennington, 88, of Wheelersburg, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. She was born April 30, 1930 in Sciotoville, a daughter of the late Roy Stephens and Mary Francis (Horner) Stephens McNelly Stephenson.

Kathleen was a member of Wheelersburg United Methodist Church and a 1947 Minford High School graduate. In June 1971, she received a Bachelor of Elementary Education and a Bachelor of Special Education from Ohio University. She taught in the Waverly, Minford and Wheelersburg school systems, having retired from the latter.

A 70-year member of the Wheelersburg Order of Eastern Star #516, Kathleen was involved with many church organizations, was an SOMC Auxiliary Life Member, former Cub Scout Den Mother and former member of the Do-Si-Do Square Dance Club.

Surviving are three sons, Mark E. (Nicole) Bennington of Camp Creek, Dan J. (Beverly) Bennington of Sciotoville and Thomas (Lori) Bennington of Minford; her brother, Vernon (Beverly) Stevens, PhD of Dublin; eight grandchildren, Angela Bennington, Emily Bennington, Rachel Diaz, Nathan Bennington, D.O., Eden Bennington, Tirzah Tucker, Derek Bennington and Kara Conkey; and eight great-grandchildren.

Kathleen was also preceded in death by a son, Michael R. Bennington; and two sisters, Ervene Kitchen and Ruth Tepper.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the RALPH F. SCOTT FUNERAL HOME in Portsmouth with Rev. Perry Prosch officiating and interment in Memorial Burial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until the funeral hour.
