The Portsmouth Times, April 1962 - Flames Damage Truck, Dock Roof
Fire caused an estimated $300 damage Monday afternoon to a truck and loading dock roof at the Minford Farm Center.
Minford firemen said the fire started in corn cobs in a truck parked at the loading dock.

The truck bed was destryoed, fireman said, and the roof over the dock was damaged.

Eight volunteer firemen and two trucks, under direction of Assistant Chief, Don Moore, answered the alarm at 1:15.

A new fuel oil business has been established in Minford.  The firm, Crabtree Fuel Oil, has its offices in the Minford Feed & Supply on Route 139.  The business is operated by Everett Crabtree.

Crabtree attended Stockdale High School and was employed by Herms Floral Company of Portsmouth for 14 years before entering the fuel oil business two years ago.  He opened his own business this year.

Crabtree offers home delivery service to all parts of the county.
