Mohat School
Very little is known about the Mohat School. In the book entitled, "The History of Scioto County," the school notation says it was defunct by 1903.
In a newspaper article dated November 12, 1896, the name Mohat School was referenced. The article was an account of the Teacher's Institute Meeting. The notation said, "Allen Stockham, Director - Mohat District.
There were 2 teachers by the name of Mohat who attended the Teacher's Institute in August of 1897:
Wallace Mills - Nettie Mohat, Hattie Mohat. A third teacher by the name of Stella Dever also attended the meeting. It is unknown how or if the Mohat teachers were associated with the Mohat School. Nettie & Hattie Mohat had a brother, Joseph M. Mohat. In Joseph's obituary, it is noted that he taught 12 years in Scioto County Schools.
