Recently we were asked - "Why is your church called Old "Philadelphia" Tabernacle when you're located in Minford, Ohio?"
Great question! So here's why...
Old Philadelphia Tabernacle has been a part of the Minford Community for many many years. The church pulled its name from the book of Revelation in the Holy Bible.
Philadelphia: from the name of a city in Asia Minor mentioned in Revelation in the New Testament. The name of the city meant "brotherly love" from Greek f??e? (phileo) "to love" and ade?f?? (adelphos) "brother".
In the book of Revelation, we read this of the church of Philadelphia; "I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name...Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth."
It is our heart's desire to have the character of the church of Philadelphia mentioned in the Holy Word of God. To be a haven of brotherly love, a pillar of morals, a standard bearer of Truth, and ultimately a reflection of Christ to our community.
