PAUL K. DEVER
December 12, 1923 - September 27, 2017
PORTSMOUTH —Paul Kenneth Dever, 93, of Portsmouth passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Best Care Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Wheelersburg, Ohio after a brief illness.
Paul was born December 12, 1923 in Sciotoville, Ohio to the late Clifford and Emma Caroline Dever. Paul enjoyed spending time with his family, farm life, reading, traveling, and discussing the history and politics of the great nation of the United States of America. He was a member of the Sciotoville United Methodist Church.
Paul cherished the rich beauty of his family's farm where as a young man learned the value of hard work as he carried out the traditions of his family's dairy farm. He enjoyed operating and working with tractors and farm implements as well as building and flying radio controlled airplanes. Paul was a bus driver for Minford Local Schools, worked at Empire Detroit Steel, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn Jane Lansing and Wanda Grashel, and his grandsons, Christopher Gampp and Jared Dever.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Norma Jean Dever; his children, Sandy (Ronnie) Gampp, Terry (Barbara) Dever, Tim (Christy) Dever, Becky Adams (Rick Miller); his grandchildren, Jeff (Kelly) Gampp, Megan (Kyle) McKenzie, Tyler and Chelsea Adams, Isaac Dever; his great-grandchildren, Kyla (Wes) Lyon, Kooper and Mathis McKenzie; his great great-grandchildren, Maylee and Aiden Lyon; nephew, Bob (Jeanette) Grashel; niece, Jeri Sue (David) Stoner, as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 2, 2017 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor John Richards officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
