Paul W. Butcher
September 10, 1917 - November 19, 1955
Suffering a cerebral hemorrhage, Paul W. Butcher, 38, a Minford High School teacher, died unexpectedly Saturday at 4:10 p.m.
He was stricken Saturday morning at the Butcher home near Minford, and died a few hours later.
A native of the Minford area, he was born September 10, 1917 a son of George D. and Mary Brown Butcher.
He attended Minford schools and was graduated from Portsmouth High School and Ohio State University. He commenced his teaching career at Stockdale in 1939.
During World War II Mr. Butcher served in the Army Air Corps and was a staff sergeant.
Mr. Butcher taught English and history at Minford High School and directed class plays and school publications. He was a member of Stockdale Methodist Church and taught the Men's Bible Class the last three years.
He also was a member of Union Grange, Minford Lion's Club and James Irwin Post, American Legion.
His father, widely known in Republican politics and a deputy sheriff, died in November 1949. He is survived by his mother.
The body will be at the Butcher home until noon Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at Stockdale Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday, under direction of Erwin-Dodson Funeral Home. Rev. Claude Corbett and Rev. Ralph Groves are to officiate with burial in Beaver Cemetery.
