Many people in the community own a glass bottle from J. D. Poole & Sons Dairy in Minford. Mr. Poole and his three sons, Paul, Clayton and Joe were planning to operate a 234 acre and grain farm in Minford, then start a dairy business. The dairy business never opened. After much planning and the purchase of bottles, they decided to forego the dairy business.
Paul Poole opened a dairy business and maintained a plant in Minford. The plant processed fluid milk and related products that were distributed on wholesale and retail routes in Portsmouth and New Boston. Paul's Dairy produced and sold homogenized milk in quart, half-gallon and gallon glass containers.

A Minford dairy owner filed a $75,000 damage suit in U.S. District Court at Cincinnati Friday against an Indiana boiler firm.
The suit was filed against the Bryan Boiler Company of Peru, Indiana by Paul Poole, owner of Paul's Dairy formerly at Minford.
Damages were asked against the Indiana company as the result of a boiler explosion last July 8 at the Minford dairy.
The devasting explosion destroyed the one-floor brick building and injured two passing motorists when a large piece of the boiler landed in front of their vehicle.
Poole said he filed the suit because he contends that the construction of the boiler was defective.
