Susan Snedecor Shaw

January 13, 1950 - September 3, 2021 

PORTSMOUTH-Susan Elizabeth Shaw, 71, of Portsmouth, passed away Friday, September 3, 2021, at her home. She was born January 13, 1950, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Charles Louis and Inez Marie Brown Snedecor.

She was preceded in death May 23, 2021, by her husband, William Kerr Shaw. The couple was married June 29, 1985, in Portsmouth.

Upon graduation from Portsmouth High School in 1968, she attended the Ohio State University for three years, where she was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority. She then transferred to Ohio University where she earned a Bachelor of Education in 1973. Susan taught fifth grade in the Minford schools and then worked as a substitute teacher for the Portsmouth City Schools. She was a member of the Portsmouth Garden Club and she was an active member of the Scioto County Democratic Party.

Surviving is her sister, Teresa "Terri" Lynn Snedecor of Portsmouth; and her beloved animals. Sue was also blessed with many wonderful, loving caregivers, Kim Adkins, Rhonda Tackett, Letitia "Tish" Pollard, Barb Williams, Connie Gibbs and Crystal Shepherd.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Edgewood Abbey Mausoleum in Memorial Burial Park with Rev. Don Noel officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of the RALPH F. SCOTT FUNERAL HOME in Portsmouth.
