Sylvan L. McLaughlin, 82, of Lucasville, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, at Lifecare Hospital in Plano, Texas. Born Jan. 3, 1925, in Scioto County, a son of the late George R. and Ruby C. White McLaughlin, he was a retired school bus driver and custodian for Minford Local Schools. He attended Fairview Missionary Baptist Church and was a graduate of Minford High School in the class of 1942. He was a member of Lucasville Masonic Lodge No. 465 and the Valley of Cincinnati Scottish Rites.
He is survived by one daughter, Sara Renfrow, and her husband, Tim, of Carrollton, Texas; one stepdaughter, Cindy Ferguson, and her husband, Clark, of Double Oak, Texas; one stepson, Tim Doyle, and his wife, Julia, of Alabama; five stepgranddaughters; two brothers, George McLaughlin, and his wife, Charlene, of Minford, and Roger McLaughlin, of Jacksonville, Fla.; one nephew; and two nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Deanna Chapman McLaughlin, in October 1996; one brother, Howard McLaughlin; and one nephew, Paul McLaughlin, in 1979.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at Erwin-Dodson- Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Tim Palla officiating. Burial will be in Bennett Cemetery in Minford.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour before the services on Thursday. A Masonic service will be presented by the Lucasville Lodge at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
