The SOCF prison riot was particularly painful for the members of the Minford community.  Robert Bruce "Bobby" Vallandingham, a guard at the prison, was killed during the riot.  Bobby was a graduate of Minford High School in the Class of 1971.  Bobby was the son of Homer & Wanda Vallandingham, lifelong members of the Minford community.

The Lucasville prison riot was the longest prison siege in US history.  It began on April 11, 1993 (Easter Sunday) at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility near Lucasville in Scioto County and lasted 11 days.
