Alton Coriell Dies in Hospital Here Saturday
Alton Coriell, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Coriell of near Minford, died in Portsmouth General Hospital Saturday.
He was injured in an automobile accident near Athens about a month ago and suffered a fractured skull, which ended in his death. He was admitted to the hospital May 10. He was one of the best known young men in Scioto County and was a student at Ohio University, Athens,
Coriell, despite his youthfulness, took a prominent part in Scioto County politics. He was a strong supporter of the Square Deal School association, which figured so prominently in last fall's election. He made a number of speeches in Scioto County. He formerly taught school at Harrison Furnace. Coriell, who developed meningitis several days ago had been in a serious condition for 10 days. He leaves his parents, a brother Riley, and a sister, Annette at home.
