Annis was preceded in death by Fred, her beloved husband of 72 years.  She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Ron) Wiser and Carol (Duane) Hallock. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Bryan, Greg, Jennifer, (Nathan), and Allison, and three great grandchildren – Kayla, Alex, and Elizabeth.

Annis was born on August 5, 1919 in Portsmouth, Ohio. She was the eleventh and youngest child of Louella Mae Kilgore Allen and John Andrew Allen.  All of her brothers and sisters have preceded her in death. Annis grew up in Portsmouth and graduated from Minford High School.  As a young woman she came to Milford, Ohio to work at her brother’s restaurant, The Homestead Inn.  While working there, she met Fred Barrett. They were married on March 18, 1946 in Milford.

Annis spent all of her married years in and around Cincinnati, Ohio.  She was an excellent wife and mother and will be remembered for her outstanding homemaking skills, especially sewing and cooking.  She was involved in activities in her community of Evendale, including a ladies bowling league and a golf league.  She enjoyed the planting and growing of flowers, as well as gardening, growing fresh produce for family meals.  Annis was an active and long-time member of the Clifton Seventh-day Adventist church.

Fred and Annis resided in Evendale, Ohio until early 2014 when they relocated from their home of 52 years to an assisted living facility in Cincinnati. Due to health issues, it was necessary to move closer to family, so they moved to Elmcroft Senior Living in Miamisburg, Ohio where Annis passed away on New Year’s Eve.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. on Monday, January 6, followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. at the Mihovk- Rosenacker Funeral Home, 10211 Plainfield Road, Cincinnati 45241. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park.
