Albert Charles Melvin
May 8, 1926 - March 10, 2011

MELVIN, Albert Charles loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather passed away March 10, 2011 at the age of 84. Al was born on May 8, 1926 in South Point, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marjorie of Miami Township; his sons Gary of Cooper City, Florida; James and wife Vicke of Centerville; his daughter Marsha and husband Jesse Turner of West Carrollton; ten grandchildren, Dan, Ryan, Alyson, Kelli, Joe, Alicia, Jenna, Jason, Jim and Christopher; eleven great grandchildren and one on the way, Brandan, Tyler, Katelyn, Kaleigh, Camren, Caleb, Emilee, Jincey, Aaron, Alexandra and Alaina; sister Jean McGraw of South Webster, Ohio; his brother-in-law Bill and wife Joanne Long of California and numerous numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Al was preceded in death by his parents Cirmiles and Grace (Arthur), brothers Dan, Bill, Jack, Sam and sister Virginia Lockwood, Mary Bennett and Sue Kallner.

He was a United States Army Veteran proudly serving during WWII, employee of DP & L, Big Hill and Mall Realty and founder and owner of Miami Valley Coal Sales.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel) 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering. Interment will follow the service at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of West Carrollton, 705 S. Elm St., West Carrollton, Ohio 45449. The family would like to give a special thanks to Al's aides Amanda, Becky, Erika, Larry, Ruth and grandson Joe and to the nurses and staff at Hospice of Dayton.
