Cheryl Anette Gaines

PORTSMOUTH - Cheryl Anette Gaines, 59, of Portsmouth passed away
Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. She was born
October 21, 1962 in Portsmouth to the late David Courtney and Linda Pearl
(Newsome) Gaines. Cheryl was a 1980 graduate of Minford High School, she loved
to sew, read and cross stitch.
Cheryl is survived by a daughter, Courtney Gaines of Portsmouth;
three brothers, Carlton Gaines of Portsmouth, Paul Gaines of Portsmouth and Harrison
Gaines and wife Karen of Reynoldsburg; a sister, Mary Hoover and husband Ronald
of Portsmouth, three grandchildren, Gracie Royal, Axle Workman and Lexie
Workman all of Portsmouth; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in
death by three brothers, Joseph Gaines, Dennis Gaines and Timothy Gaines. The
family would like to thank the staff of SOMC Hospice and Best Care Nursing and
Rehabilitation Center for the care and compassion they have shown to Cheryl in
the last few months.
Private services will be held at a later date under the direction of the D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in New Boston.
