Cynthia Ellen Wilson Murphy
February 18, 1933 - January 31, 2016 

 
Cynthia Ellen Murphy, 82, of Portsmouth, a former Minford resident, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Hillview Retirement Center.
 
Born February 18, 1933 in Scioto County, a daughter of the late George Brenton McClellan and Grace E. Snodgrass Wilson, she was a 1952 graduate of Minford High School and a BMV Clerk. She was a past Mother advisor for Rainbow Girls in Lucasville, volunteer for Cancer Society, was a member of Homemaker’s Club and a member of Harrison Freewill Baptist Church.
 
She is survived by one daughter, Diane Wallace of Portsmouth; one son, Dan Murphy (Troy Owens) of Cincinnati; two grandchildren, Adam Jordan (Kim Crum), and Rachel Shultz; one great granddaughter, Zoë Shultz, and two sisters, Mary Frances “Dutch” Wilson of Minford and Kay Blackburn of Columbus. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Earl Murphy on September 19, 1980; one sister, Kathryn Joan Parks; one brother, Robert David Wilson, and a son-in-law, Larry J. Wallace.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Bennett Cemetery in Minford with Pastor Mike Mounts officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Harrison Freewill Baptist Church, 12254 State Route 139, Minford, Ohio 45653
