Elmer L. Williams
August 16, 1937 - August 16, 2023
 
A celebration of life for Elmer L. Williams, age 86, of Newark, will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, August 21, at The Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 1249 Hebron Road, Heath, with Pastor Gary Kirkpatrick, officiating.
Military honors will be provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Friends may attend visitation the same day of the service at the funeral home from 2-3 p.m.
The Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. 
 
Elmer passed away on August 16, 2023, at the Selma Markowitz Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. He was born August 16, 1937 in Sciotoville, Ohio to the late Rufus “Jack” and Alberta (Pace) Williams.
Elmer was a member of Spring Hills Baptist Church. Elmer had a strong faith and firm belief in God.
Elmer graduated from Minford High School in the Class of 1955. He served our Country in the United States Air Force from March 6, 1959, to November 7, 1962. He was a supervisor at the Newark Air Force Base where he retired after three decades of service.
At the age of 39, Elmer married the love of his life, Shirley (Brame) Williams on March 5, 1977. They enjoyed 46 years of marriage together and often spent their winters in Arizona.
After his Air Force career, Elmer worked at Sears and Lowe’s in the appliance departments. During this time, Elmer also liked meeting at McDonald’s with retired friends to have good conversation and a “senior” coffee.
Elmer was a pilot and taught flying. Elmer also enjoyed bowling, antique cars, especially his 1957 T bird.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Shirley Williams; a son, Michael (Julie) Richard; two grandchildren, Paige and Katie Richard; one sister, Judy (Larry) Moyer; one brother, Lowell Williams; many nieces and nephews; and a special “adopted granddaughter,” Jennie Recko.
In addition to his parents, Elmer was preceded in death by his three brothers, Virgil Williams, David Williams and Clarence Williams; two sisters, Fannie Justice and Mildred “Micki” Cotter.
