Gary Arthur Hurst Sr. 71, of Wheelersburg went home to be with the Lord on May 2, 2012.

 

He passed away at OSU Hospital while surrounded by his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend and will be missed greatly.

 

Gary was born August 28, 1940, to Millie Hurst and the late Arthur Hurst. He was a member of Ohio Operating Engineers Local 18, having retired after 37 years service.

He was a member of Nauvoo Masonic Lodge. He went to Wheelersburg Cornerstone Nazarene Church.

Gary is survived by his wife and best friend of 52 years, Janice Hill Hurst. They were married on June 6, 1959, in Wheelersburg.

 

Also surviving are one son, Gary (Bonnie) Hurst Jr.; one daughter, Chandra (Ron) Salyers; five grandchildren, Whitney and Corbin Hurst, Kylie, Courtney and Megan Salyers; three brothers, Ed Hurst, Tom (Carolyn) Hurst and Leroy (Rita) Hurst; four sisters, Bonnie Clark, Vicki Bailey, Cheryl (Michael) Musser and Benita Hurst; two sisters-in-law, Joyce (Larry) Wright and Karen (Herb) Otworth.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Pastor Gary Proehl officiating.
