Gary Dean Shumway
August 6, 1949 - March 10, 2023 

Gary Dean Shumway, 73, of Ironton, passed away peacefully Friday, March 10, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. The Scioto County native was born August 6, 1949 the son of the late Fred and Gertrude Parsons Shumway.

Gary was a graduate of Minford High School and the United Upholstery School. He was the retired self employed owner and operator of Gary's Custom Upholstery for 48 years. Gary was raised in the Nazarene church and enjoyed fishing, golfing and was always willing to help others. While Gary enjoyed his work and spending time with friends he always found time to be with the ones that meant the most, his loving wife, his son and daughter-in-law, and two very special grandchildren.

Gary is survived by:
his wife of 38 years, Marsha Conroy Shumway who he married September 1, 1984
son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Caryn "Sparkle" Turvey of Ironton,
two grandchildren, Luke and Sophie Turvey of Ironton
sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Tina and Forrest Kerns of Ironton
brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe and Judy Conroy of Ironton
brother-in-law, Harry Conroy of Ashland, Ky.
sister-in-law, Janice Blevins of Ashland, Ky.

Funeral services will be 1:00P.M. Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. 7th St., Ironton, Ohio with Pastor Andy Ramey officiating. Burial will follow in Mamre Cemetery, Kitts Hill, Ohio. Family and friends may call Thursday from 11:00A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
