Gary L. Wachenschwanz, 63, of Circleville, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at his residence.

He was born December 17, 1947 in Nelsonville, the son of the late Charles Lee and Violet Marie (Hartman) Wachenschwanz. He graduated from Minford High School and was a 1970 graduate of Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology, College of Engineering. Gary worked for Verizon, formerly GTE, for 33 years before retiring and for the past 5 years has worked on a contract basis for ECSM Utility Contractors Inc. He enjoyed the outdoors, traveling and spent a great deal of time working with wood. Gary built everything from cabinets down to squirrel houses, but his greatest passion is evident in his many stained glass designs.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sharon Sue (Shuter) Wachenschwanz; daughter, Christy Sue Wachenschwanz Willemann of Dublin; aunts, Leta Hartman of Kent and Rita Hartman (Charlie) McKnight of Lancaster; cousins, Carolyn Hartman (Joey) Gavit of Kent, Sharon McKnight (Ed) Simons and Diane McKnight (Jeff) Sherlock of Lancaster; honored friends, Barbara and Bill Miller, Jerry and Nellie Miller and Howard and Jewel Starn, all of Circleville. 

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2011 at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, 151 E. Main St., Circleville, with Rev. Ed Simons and Rev. Mark Clingan officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
