GEORGE R. BENNETT
January 1, 1925 - September 8, 2016
MINFORD-George Russell Bennett, 91, of Minford, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Pleasant Hill Manor in Piketon.
Born January 1, 1925 in Scioto County, a son of the late Marion and Elizabeth "Dutchie" (Henson) Bennett, he was a graduate of Minford High School Class of 1944, former owner and operator of Bennett's Body Shop in Muletown and owner of Bennett's Used Cars in Minford, and attended Rubyville Community Church. George was also a member of Minford Lions Club, Lucasville Masonic Lodge, Scioto Antique Car Club, Ashland El Hasa Shrine, and Knights of Pythias.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Doug Shultz of Lucasville; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Shellby and Rodney Vulgamore of Minford; a great granddaughter, Brylynn Chelsea Jones of Minford, a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Mary Lou Bennett of Orient; a sister-in-law, Mary Helen Bennett of Minford, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Blanch (Shoemaker) Bennett on January 25, 2015; a son, Dean E. Bennett; two brothers, Forest Edwin Bennett, Marion Bennett, Jr., and a sister, Violet McCaleb.
Funeral services will be conducted Noon Monday, September 12, 2016 at Rubyville Community Church with Pastor Calvin Ray Evans and Pastor Brian Baer officiating. Burial will be at Bennett Cemetery in Minford. Friends may call at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
