Deceased Name:  Harold E. Allen, 80

Harold E. Allen, 80, of Minford, died Sunday, June 3, 2007 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth.

He was born Aug. 22, 1926, in Scioto County, a son of the late Clarence W. and Jennie B. Hosier Allen.

He was a teacher and principal for Minford Local School District for 32 years. He was a 1945 graduate of Minford High School, and graduated from Ohio University with a B.S. degree and Marshall College with a Masters Degree.

He was a member of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church, James Irwin Post No. 622 American Legion, Lucasville Masonic Lodge No. 465, a 32nd Degree Mason with the Valley of Cincinnati, and a member of Scioto County and Ohio Retired Teachers Association.

He served in the Army Air Force during World War II.

He was on the Minford Telephone Company Board of Directors for 40 years and a Minford Squad 3 member for 27 years.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Bennett Allen, whom he married July 15, 1950; two sons, Timothy Allen and wife, Debbie, of Minford, and Neal Allen, of Minford; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Julia Allen, of Shelby, Ohio; two grandchildren, Andrea L. Murphy and husband Patrick, of Canal Winchester, Ohio, and Weston T. Allen and wife Peggy, of Amelia, Ohio; and three great-grandchildren, Maureen Elizabeth Murphy, Skylar Cade Allen and Margaret Ann "Maggie" Murphy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Hickman; and two brothers, Edgar Allen, in infancy, and William "Herbert" Allen.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Tim Palla officiating. Burial will be in Bennett Cemetery in Minford. Military graveside rites will be conducted by James Irwin Post No. 622 American Legion.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour before the services on Wednesday. Masonic services will be conducted by the Lucasville Lodge 465 at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
