Harold Shumway, 86, of Jackson, a former Minford area resident, died Monday, August 9, 2010 at Four Winds Nursing Facility in Jackson.

Born June 8, 1924, a son of the late Elza Thurman and Nettie Jane Wyant Shumway, he was a 1942 graduate of Minford High School and attended Harrison Free Will Baptist Church.

He worked with the public in the automotive parts business and owned-operated Lucasville Service Center a full service gas station in Lucasville for many years. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Cordel Shumway; two sons, Larry (Pat) Shumway of Port Orange, Florida and Joe (Amy) Shumway of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two grandchildren; one great grandson, and one brother, Donald Shumway of Ironton, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ferd H. Shumway, Ralph Shumway, James Shumway and four sisters, Bertha Powell, Sylvia Fyffe, Helen Ruby and Mina Yates.

Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Harrison Free Will Baptist Church in Minford with Pastor Daryl Grimes officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
