Hayes Hayward, 78, of Minford, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at his home place.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He was born Jan. 9, 1935, in Wheelersburg; son of the late Forrest and Adrian Kallner Hayward. He graduated from Minford High School in 1953. He was retired from the Empire Detroit Steel Corporation and AK Steel Corporation after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Sunshine Church of Christ. He was an Army Veteran. He was a former member of the Minford School Board and an avid sports fan, following all the local sports. He was a coach and a father figure to his pee wee sports teams.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eloise Keeton Hayward; a son, Jeff (Teresa) Hayward of Minford; a daughter, Kelly (Mark) Traylor of Wheelersburg; four granddaughters; Ashley (Daniel) Parker of Oak Hill, Kayla McGraw (Seth Iverson) of Portsmouth, Melissa and Melinda Hayward of Minford; two great grandchildren: Lainey and Jace Parker of Oak Hill; a brother, Merritt (Helen) Hayward of Portsmouth; two sisters, Inagene (Bernie) Wilson, Anita (Tandy) Cole, both of Wheelersburg and several nieces and nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his oldest daughter Rhonda Daniels.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Batterson Cemetery with Steve Miller, Minister officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
