Helen Bernice Wheeler, 80, of Sciotoville, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, January 26, 2012, at SOMC Hospice Center as the result of a stroke.
Helen was born February 18, 1931, to Ray and Edna Crum Veach. She is survived by her son, Steven Jess Wheeler, of Sciotoville; a brother, Robert Veach of Minford; and two sisters, Phyllis Howard of Lucasville and Mary Parker of Akron.
Helen is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. She was very close to the Don and Cheryl Bender family of Minford, who she considered her adopted children and grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 44 years, Jess Wheeler; one brother, Ronald Veach and two sisters, Wanda Veach and Delores Joan Smith. Helen was a member of Central Church of Christ and taught Sunday School for most of her life. The four things Helen loved the most were family, faith, friends and flowers.
She was well-known for the large flower beds which surrounded her home. Helen also enjoyed a monthly lunch date with her high school classmates from the Minford class of 1949. She will be missed by them all.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, January 30, 2012, at the Swick-Bussa-Chamberlin Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, with Dennis Dawes officiating, with interment at South Webster Cemetery.
