Two From Scioto Missing In Action
Pvt. Henry, Sgt. Leslie On Casualty Records

Pvt. Robert E. Henry, 19, is reported missing in action in France since Sept. 26 according to a war department message received by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Henry of Lucasville Rt. 1.

He was employed by the Williams Mfg. Co. and made his home with his grandparents before entering service July 10, 1943.  He was born and reared in the Duck Run community and attended the McDermott schools.

Pvt. Henry received his training in the States at Camp Haan, Calif., and was sent to France in August.  He was home on a furlough the month before he left for overseas.

Sgt. I. D. Leslie, foster son of Mrs. Harriet Lyons of Sciotoville Rt. 2, is missing in action in the Pacific war theater, the war department notified Mrs. Lyons today.

Sgt. Leslie attended Minford High School before his enlistment on December 1, 1941.  He was a member of a night fighter squadron and was 23 years of age.

Three other members of the Leslie family are serving in the armed forces.  A sister, Mary, is a nurse, stationed in Italy; Jack of the army is recuperating in a hospital in England from wounds duffered in France, and another brother, John, is with the army in the Pacific.

A brother, Joe, resides with Mrs. Lyons at Sciotoville.  Others in the family include a sister, Ionis, and brother, Lee, 504 Fifth Street, Portsmouth, and a twin sister, Nancy, residing in Cincinnati.
