John Addis

John Addis was involved in many businesses in the Harrisonville/Minford area.  He was a real estate dealer, owned a sawmill, and later owned a fertilizer business.

John Addis left Harrisonville and became the Superintendent of the Scioto County Infirmary for 2 years.

Sold His Teams
O. M. Coburn was at Harrisonville Saturday in attendance at the stock sale of John Addis.  Addis has been using a number of horses in the sawmill business, but concluding that is was cheaper to hire his hauling done decided to dispose of his teams.  The horses brought good prices.

Former Infirmary Head Dies in Columbus Sunday

John Addis, 69, Waverly, former superintendent of Scioto County infirmary, died in Columbus at 11:30 p.m. from a heart attack.  He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. R. Young.

He was active in Democratic politics in Scioto and Pike counties.  He was born and reared in the Minford community.  He was a farmer and real estate dealer.  Eight years ago he retired and moved to Waverly.

He became ill three months ago and went to Columbus to live with his daughter.  He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Julia Addis and the following children:  William Addis, New Boston, Mrs. Martin Hall, New Boston, Mrs. Norman Roetiger, Lucasville, Mrs. Earl Dodge, Wheelersburg, Edward, Floyd and Thomas Addis, Columbus and Mrs. Young.  He is survived by one brother, George Addis, Waterloo, and three sisters, Mrs. Harry Herdman and Miss Hattie Addis, 1541 Ninth Street and Mrs. George Massie, Xenia.

The body will be moved to Waverly Wednesday morning.  Funeral services will be conducted in the United Christian Church, Waverly, at 1 p.m. Wednesday.  Burial will be made in Bennett cemetery near Minford.
