John Damon Snyder, 53, of Minford, died at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday in Smith-Everett Hospital.  Mr. Snyder had been admitted to the hospital early Monday.
 
Born May 5, 1906 at Stockdale, he was a son of John and Mary Schram Snyder.  Mr. Snyder was married to Avanell Marie Milam in 1929.
 
Mr. Snyder had been employed for 30 years by Detroit Steel Corp., Portsmouth Division.  He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, Lucasville Lodge, Mt. Vernon Chapter, Solomon Council and El Hasa Temple Shrine of Ashland.  Mr. Snyder was also a member of Sunshine Grange and Vice President of the Minford Telephone Company, a charter member of the trustees of Minford Fire Department, Republican committeeman and charter member of the Minford Lion's Club.  He served as clerk of Harrison Township for 14 years.
 
Surviving are his wife, Avanell Merle Snyder; a son, Donald of Dayton; a daughter Mrs. Jean Jarvis of Wheelersburg Route 1; three brothers:  Roy of Lucasville, Everett of Marion, OHio, and Harmon of Hi Hat, Kentucky; six sisters:  Mrs. Bertha Leedy of Jackson, Mrs. Lena Minford of Dayton, Mrs. Minnie McKinney of Springfield, Mrs. Eva Seidel of Minford, Mrs. Alice Poole of Wisconsin, and Mrs. Dorothy Lewis 4380 Rhodes Avenue, New Boston and three grandchildren.
 
Preceeding Mr. Snyder in death were his parents and a brother.
 
Funeral services are to be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Harrison Baptist Church with Rev. Don Williams officiating.  Burial is to follow in Bennett Cemetery under the direction of Erwin-Dodson Funeral Home.  Masonic services are to be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
 
Friends may call at 7 tonight and until 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.  The body may be viewed after 1 p.m. Friday at the church.
