Marvis Joy Swords Keller, 80, born Sept. 29, 1931, (a twin) at 4247 Oak Street, New Boston, Ohio, died Friday, March 30, 2012, at Minford Retirement Center Elbrooke Pavilion.

She never spent any time in a hospital. She worked on the farm non-stop even when she broke her arm she continued to tend to her animals. She loved her dogs, cats and sheep almost more than anything else.

She had a special passion for sheep and through her breeding of them she was able to bring the Scioto County born lamb class to a whole new level, which made her very happy.

She graduated from Minford High School in the class of 1949, where her class motto was “To Make the Best Better” which was how she tried to live her life. She was a devote Seventh-day Adventist.

She was married to Carol Wayne Keller, on March 15, 1950, where they lived on the family dairy farm on Mt. Carmel Road, later purchasing the adjacent land, where they continued to live and work until the time of Carl’s death on June 11, 2010.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip Sheridan Swords and Sarah E. Rolfe Swords; grandparents, Henry and Mary Swords (they are listed in the Pioneer Families of Scioto County); brothers, Richard Swords, Herman Swords; sisters, Sarah Ester Swords, born 1925-1926, Muriel Joyce Swords (Joy’s twin) died Aug. 13, 1932, Mildred Swords Chase; half brother, Harold Swords; and a half sister, Hazel Swords Boldman.

She is survived by two children, Debarah Joy Keller Peed (Robert Gregory Peed) aka: Deb and Greg, of Minford, Carl Wayne Keller, Jr. (Danielle Clausing Keller) aka: Skeet and Dee of Minford; a sister, Carolyn Swords Meixner of Athens; seven grandchildren, Carl Wayne Keller, III (Lyndsey McClintic Keller) aka: Skip and Lyndsey, Candace Danielle Keller Goody (Matt Goody) aka: Candy and Matt, Cassandra Jo Keller Chain (Bryan Chain) aka: Cassee and Bry, Liberty Joy Peed Armstrong (Dave Armstrong) aka: Liberty and Dave, Noah Moriah Peed, Abraham Zachariah Peed, Issac Isaiah Peed; seven great-grandchildren, Gage Keller, Brady Keller, John Keller, Mollie Armstrong, Owen Armstrong, Maggie Armstrong, Bodie Armstrong, and two step-great-grandchildren, Mark Peed and Zach Peed.

Graveside services were held Sunday, April 1, 2012, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery near Minford, with Robert Colley officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of the Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford.
