BENNETT Kermit "Curley" Bennett, age 75, Friday, at the OSU Medical Center.
Retired from the Ohio State Highway Patrol in 1978 after 32 years of service.
Veteran of World War II and former prisoner of war.
Past president of The Ohio State Highway Patrol Retirees Association, past Chaplain of American Legion Young Budd Post 171 in Westerville. Elder and Clerk of Session at Westerville First Presbyterian Church, Graduate of the Traffic Institute of Northwestern University, Parkland College Drivers License Examiner Course, USDOT Highway Traffic Safety Program Management Course. Member of Blendon Lodge, Scottish Rite (Cincinnati), Aladdin Temple, Aladdin Shrine Provost Unit, American Ex-Prisoners of War and the Lions Club of Westerville. "Curley" received many awards for his dedication and service to mankind such as the Melvin Jones Fellow, the Dick Bryan Fellow and the Lions Christian Award from the Lions Club International. He was also twice named Lion of the Year.
Survived by wife Joan of 49 years; sons Frank "Skip" (Doris) Bennett, Myles (Lynne) Bennett; grandchildren Ashley and Kyle Bennett; sister Dorothy (Lafe) Williams; brother Tom (Joy) Bennett; many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, 220 S. State St., Westerville 2-4 & 7-9 PM Monday where service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday. Interment Blendon Central Cemetery.
