The Knight's of Pythias is a fraternal organization and secret society founded in 1864 in Washington, D.C. Their ideals were loyalty, honor and friendship. Membership was open to males in good health who believe in a Supreme Being. Members were required to be at least 18 years of age, not a professional gambler or involved with illegal drugs or alcohol.
In 1890 when the group was organized, there were 20 members. By 1903, the membership had grown to 100 members.
