Larry Akers, 70, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013, after a brief illness.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Harry Akers, is mother Cora Lucille Moore, brother Harry Lee Akers and infant son Daron Albert Akers.

A 1961 graduate of Minford High School, and a graduate of the Ohio Peace Officers Academy, served as a police officer in Hilliard, Ohio in the 1960’s, and was a member of the Free Masons in Avery Lodge No. 493.
 
He worked as Machine Operator for Jeffery Mining Machine of Columbus, and was retired as a school custodian from Hilliard City Schools.
 
Larry coached youth baseball in Hilliard, and was an avid Reds, Browns and Buckeye fan. He loved the seashore, roses, his wife, his children, grandchildren and his country. He helped his wife hold a July Fourth celebration each year to express his deep love of America.

Larry is survived by his wife Kay Annette Baker, his daughter Crystal Castle, sons, Harry Roger, Noel Justin, Pride Anthony, their mother Saundra Crum Akers, 14 grandchildren, his step-mother Rowena Mougey Akers and sister Sherry Fankel.

There will be a celebration of life on Thursday, March 14, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for family and friends at the Hilliard Church of Latter Day Saints 1001 Doherty Road. A grave side service and burial will be held at noon Friday, March 15, at Memorial Burial Park 10556 Gallia Street in Wheelersburg, Ohio.
