Brother Larry Ray Gilliland, age 59, of Marysville, died at his home, Wednesday evening, May 8, 1996 after a 2 year illness.

 

He was the co-owner of Crawford-Gilliland Heating & Cooling of Hilliard and worked in this field for over 25 years.

 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and loved to vegetable garden.

 

He was born May 2, 1937 to the late Marvin Gilliland and Lula (Montgomery) Gilliland Wright, who is a resident at Hempstead Manor atPortsmouth, Oh.

 

He married Lola Carrinell (Estep) on August 8, 1964 at the Hickory Grove United Baptist Church in Mechanicsburg, Oh. To this union was born 1 son and 3 daughters, Patrick (Shauna) Gilliland, Richwood, Oh., Candace (Keith) Scheiderer, Kimberly (Todd) Scheiderer and Amy (Marty) Nicol, all of Marysville; 8 grandchildren, Dustin, Anna and Abigail Gilliland, Callie and Curtis Scheiderer, Ellen, Patrick and Paige Scheiderer.

 

He is survived by 1 brother, Wayne (Lois) Gilliland, Powell, Oh.; twin sister, Loretta (Samuel) Murray, Lucasville, Oh.; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Brother Larry was born again on February 9, 1973. On February 11, 1973, he was baptized and became a member of the Hickory Grove United Baptist Church in Mechanicsburg, Oh. He was ordained a Deacon of Hickory Grove on April 1, 1978 at the hands of the Presbytery composed of Elder Troy Salyers, Elder Robert Lee Murray and Elder Florida Lyons. Brother Larry fulfilled this duty to the utmost as long as he lived.

 

Larry was many things to many people. The love, guidance, service and friendship he gave to others was limitless. He was a devoted and loving husband and father. To the Lord, he was a good and faithful servant. Our loss is heaven's gain. "Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Psalm 23:6.

 

Funeral service will be held Monday, May 13, 1996, 11 a.m. at the HICKORY GROVE UNITED BAPTIST CHURCH, Mechanicsburg, with the Elder Gregory Dale Lewis, Elder Denver Caudill and Elder Douglas Ward officiating. Interment at the Oakdale Cemetery. Calling hours Saturday and Sunday 4-8 p.m. at the MANNASMITH-HALE FUNERAL HOME, Marysville, Oh.
