Leah Maxine (Mac) Willis, better known as Mac, met her appointment with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, at a nursing home in Florala, AL.
She was born in Scioto County on July 18, 1926, to the late John and Edna (Martin) Daniels. Born and raised a Buckeye, Maxine lived life to the fullest.
She married the love of her life, Darrell Gordon Willis, on Nov. 16, 1946, at Berean Baptist Church in Sciotoville.
Mac worked at Williams Manufacturing Company for 27 years as a fancy stitcher, and then worked at East High School in their food service for 10 years before she retired. Her zest for life was contagious. Mac spent her spare time square dancing, supporting her son Dale's baseball pursuits, playing on "her" beautiful Ohio River, and in her later years being a Shawnee Golden Bear.
Her final years were spent in Florala, AL, near her son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mac will be missed by all.
Mac is survived by one son, Dale G. Willis (Devona) of Laurel Hill, FL; grandson, Brad Willis (Dena) of Slocomb, AL; granddaughter, Kelly Donofro (Troy) of Crestview, FL; five great-grandchildren, Roman, Jordan, Danni Anne, Jazzy, and Gianna; one sister, Mary Hutchinson of Sciotoville; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Gerald Daniels; and two sisters, Geraldine Dunfee and Hazel Chapman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville. Interment will be in Bennett Cemetery in Minford. Friends may call one-hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
