Lloyd Harmon Brown, 86, of Portsmouth, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at his residence.
Born July 24, 1923, in Scioto County, he was a son of the late Charles R. and Alice (Allen) Brown, he was a World War II Army veteran.
He was a retired construction worker for General Maintenance Engineer Company in Columbus, Ohio, had worked for several feed stores in the local area, was a graduate of Minford High School in the class of 1942 and was a member of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Freda Hinze Brown, whom he married on July 1, 1946, in Greenup County, Ky.; five sons, Dixie (Sandy) Hinze of Marion, Lonnie (Elaine) Brown of Minford, Ronnie Brown of Portsmouth, Wayne Brown of Lucasville, and Gene (Kim) Brown of Delaware; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Elta Gay Amos of Grove City.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, George Brown, Charles Brown, his twin brother, Floyd Brown, and Ivan Elwood Brown; three sisters, Averill Brown, Althea Brown, Yvonne Jackson; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Brown; and a grandson, John Hinze.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Evangelist David Frazie officiating.
Burial will be in Squire Cemetery near Minford.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Graveside military rites will be conducted by the James Irwin Post No. 622 American Legion and William A. Baker Post 363 American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice, 35 Bierly Road, Unit 2, Portsmouth, OH 45662.
