OPAL L. (ALLEN) MURPHY
August 1, 1923 - February 9, 2018

PORTSMOUTH —Opal Lillian (Allen) Murphy, 94, of Portsmouth passed away Friday, February 9, 2018 at Best Care Nursing Home in Wheelersburg. Born August 1, 1923 in Scioto County, a daughter of the late Everett and Maude Shear Allen, she was a 1942 Minford High School graduate; homemaker, excellent cook, seamstress, and quilter. She was a former employee of Selby Shoe Factory and was a member of Swauger Valley Free Will Baptist church.

She is survived by two sons, Randel Murphy of Lucasville, Dwight (Linda) Murphy of Wheelersburg; one daughter, Patricia Murphy of Sciotoville; five grandchildren, Randa Lebrun, Kevin (Lesley) Murphy, Dwight Jackson (Lisa) Murphy, II, Aaron (Beth) Murphy, Miranda Silcott; one great grandchild, Christian Murphy, and three sisters-in-law, Frieda Allen, Joyce Stiles, and Edna Allen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jackson "Jack" Junior Murphy on January 22, 2004 whom she married on July 21, 1945; four brothers, Orval Allen, Eugene Allen, Clifford Allen, Elmer Allen; two sisters, Lovelle Kronk, Doris Whittaker, and daughter-in-law, Beverly Murphy.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Swauger Valley Free Will Baptist Church with Ron Parker officiating. Burial will be at South Webster Cemetery. Friends may call at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church
