After a long battle with cancer Ray E. Powell, Jr. passed away peacefully, Oct 23, 2014 at his home. He was surrounded by his wife, Ruth, of 48 years, son Duane Powell, the daughter he always wanted, Theresa Powell and grandchildren Lauren, Conor, Carlie and Logan. Ray was born on April 22, 1942 and was the son of Ray E. Powell, Sr. and Thelma (Shaffer) Powell. Ray is proceeded in death by his father-in-law and mother in-law, Willard J. Brame and Abby (Coburn) Brame and Willard's second wife, Kathleen (Oberley-Ward) Brame.Ray leaves behind a brother, Richard (Anne) Powell and a sister, Jennie Powell of Minford, Ohio. His sister-in-laws, Shirley (Elmer) Williams, Carolyn (Jim) Garrett and Cindy Johnson. Nephew and nieces, Michael Richards, Lisa Lemaster, Laura Garret and Melissa Auer.
Ray graduated from Minford High School in 1960. He retired from General Motors, Fisher Guide Plant in Columbus, Ohio after 35 years of service. Ray was gentle man who loved his family deeply One of his greatest joys was to watch all of his grandchildren participate in their school sports and activities. He will be missed by many.
Family and Friends are invited to celebrate his life on Sunday, October 26th from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at Rader McDonald Funeral Home located at 1355 West Main Street, West Jefferson, Ohio, 43162
The Funeral will be held at the Harvest Chapel Christian Union Church located at 530 West Jefferson-Kiousville Road SE, West Jefferson, Ohio on Monday Morning, October 27, 2014 at 11 a.m.
