Rodney Franklin Dryden, 71, of Portsmouth, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010, at SOMC Hospice.

He was born Oct. 7, 1938, in Chillicothe, to the late Ernest Richard and Helen Hester Carter Dryden.  

Rod was the retired vice president of Bank One in Portsmouth, and an Air Force veteran. He was a 1956 Minford High School graduate. Rod was a golfer and avid tennis player, and he was a great fan of the Cincinnati Reds.

 He is survived by his wife, Donna Rae Nagel Dryden, whom he married April 5, 1980, in Wise, V A.

 Also surviving are his son, Shane (Toni) Dryden of Grove City; two daughters, Jody (John) Bays of Grove City, and Katelyn Dryden of Huntington, WV; a sister, Barbara Salsbury of Sciotoville; four grandchildren, Amanda Kreil, Zackary Kreil, Victoria Wymond and Nicholas Jester; his mother-in-law, Nancy Nagel of Portsmouth; a sister-in-law, Vicki (Ron) Cartee of Portsmouth; and several nieces and nephews. Rod also leaves behind his best friends, the family dogs, Jack, Jed and Eva.

 In addition to his parents, his brother, Richard Dryden, also preceded him in death.

 The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth. There will be no services.

 In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to SOMC Hospice, 2201 25th St., Portsmouth, OH 4562.
