Roger Kenneth Allen, 83, of Minford passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014.

Roger was born in Minford, OH, April 27, 1930, to parents Fannie and Noble Allen.

 

He was a graduate of Minford High School, class of 1948. After high school, Roger joined the U.S. Air Force where he ranked, Senior Master Sergeant.

 

He married the love of his life, Ramona Jones, on September 22, 1951. During their remarkable 62 years of marriage they shared three wonderful children.

 

Roger retired from the United States Air Force after a dedicated 21 years of service.  Following the Air Force he assisted Bob Wuebbels Auctioneers in Illinois, part time.  Roger relocated his family and passion for the auction business to his hometown.  His devotion to Allen's Auctions has led to a successful 44 years.  Between auctions, he was an active member of the community.  Roger was an avid member of multiple organizations including Ohio Auctioneer Association, Masonic Temple, Portsmouth Kiwanis Club, Shriners, Scioto County Republican Party, Portsmouth Board of Realtors, Chamber of Commerce.  Roger also adored spending time with his three children, Marylin (Harold) Turner of Wheelersburg, Barbara (Paris) Caudill and Norman (Angee) Allen; seven grandchildren, Kristie (Jason) Johnson, Jessica Allen, Devan Parker, Candace Allen, Henry Allen, Sweden (Jordan) Carter and Autumn Walke; four great-grandchildren, Megan, Miranda and Tate Johnson and Jerris Carter.

 

Roger was preceded in death by three brothers Howard, Clifford and Edgar Allen; and one sister, Eleanor.

 

 

Visitation will be Thursday 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
