A furniture stripping business has been opened in Minford by Tom Stockham.

The business is Stockham's Furniture Stripping, and is located on Eckhart Road, three miles north of Minford on Route 335.

Stockham said the business is to offer complete furniture stripping service, including the stripping of wood or metal furniture.  Stockham recently completed training with Stripping Systems, Inc. of Brooklyn, Michigan.

He purchased a franchise from the company and has installed equipment to serve area residents.  Stockham said the equipment for stripping includes the use of three large chemical-filled dipping tanks.  A cold tank loosens the material to be removed, a hot tank removes the material and a grain glow tank helps bring out the natural color of the wood.

The business is to be opened from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
