Talmadge Edward Evans

Talmadge Edward Evans, 88, of Lucasville, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at SOMC Hospice.
Born March 9, 1925 in Elliott County, Kentucky, a son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Salyers Evans, he was an Engineer for the N&W Railroad for 36 years, he was a 50 year member of the American Legion in South Shore, Kentucky.
He was a Sgt. in the US Army serving in the 1st Engineer Combat Battalion, 1st Infantry Division, during World War II.
He is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Traylor of Lucasville; one son, Duane Evans of Plant City, FL; five grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; five brothers, Paul D. Evans of Lucasville, Frank Evans of South Portsmouth, KY, Kenneth Evans of Firebrick, KY, William Evans of Lucasville, James Evans of Columbus, and three sisters, Pearl Lewis of Firebrick, KY, Winnola Brown of Firebrick, KY, and Thelma Ruggles of Lucasville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Evelyn Pennington Evans, and one brother, Johnny Evans.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 5, 2013 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford. Burial will be at Collier Memorial Gardens in South Portsmouth, Kentucky. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Military graveside rites will be conducted by James Irwin Post No. 622 American Legion and William A. Baker Post No. 363.
