Thomas Williams, 57

Thomas “Steve” Williams, 57, former Portsmouth resident died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, in MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital surrounded by his family.

Born Aug. 29, 1955, in Portsmouth, Ohio to Thomas J. and Virginia R. (Hunt) Williams he had been a Portsmouth area resident for many years moving to Shelby in 1992. Steve was a graduate of Minford High School in Minford, Ohio. He drove truck for several trucking companies in Portsmouth and was currently employed with AK Steel in Mansfield.

He was a member of the United Steelworker’s Local#169 and the Teamsters Union in Portsmouth. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR and the Cleveland Browns. His pride and joy were his children and grandchildren who fondly referred to him as “Awesome Papa”.

He is survived by his wife, Diana (Widdig) Williams, whom he wed Nov. 15, 1984; his children, Nancy Douglas of Shelby; Jamie Malone of Shelby; Thomas “T.J” Steven Williams, Jr. and Jacob Williams, all of Shelby; three grandchildren, Chase Oney, Carson Douglas and Maddy Malone; his father, Thomas J. Williams of Wheelersburg, Ohio; brother, Scott (Michelle) Williams of Portsmouth; sister, Anita (Charles) Freeland of Charleston, Missouri; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia in 2011 and one son, Christopher Malone in 1993.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m.Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Bethel United Methodist Church, West Portsmouth, Ohio with burial in Memorial Burial Park, Wheelersburg, Ohio. Memorial expressions may be made to Steve’s grandchildren.
