Minford High School partnered with the Scioto Foundation in March of 2008 to establish the Minford Falcons Legacy Scholarship Endowment program, also known as the Minford UCAN Scholarship program.

The goal of the Scioto Foundation’s UCAN (University College Access Network) is to increase the number of students from Scioto County attending and completing college, raising the educational attainment levels of our community and improving the quality of life for the residents of Scioto County.

Scioto Foundation will offer a 1:1 up to $10,000 per year for each donation to this program.  They have pledged this match for a minimum of five years and currently the program is in its fifth year.  They are working to endow this program indefinitely.

Donations can be made to the Minford UCAN project by contacting the Scioto Foundation in Portsmouth.  All donations made to the endowment will be perpetual and will always continue to grow-therefore these scholarships will continue to grow in numbers and amounts for the lifetime of the Minford Schools—thereby someday offering all students of Minford High School a scholarship to the college of their choice.

Leading the way in the efforts of this campaign was the faculty of Minford High School.  Their leadership was instrumental in getting this program off the ground.  Also influential in supporting this program was agenerous contribution to the fund from the Jodi Kayser Memorial Fund in memory of Jodi Kayser.  Thank you to the Minford Phone Company, Estep Farms and several local business and many individuals for their financial support of this program.

Minford is excited to announce the awarding of four $1,000 UCAN scholarships: two in 2011 and two in 2012,  thanks to the rigorous efforts of the fundraising committee.
